Just got back from the early showing of Iron Man...the movie was awesome one of the best I have seen in a while...the last 45 sec after the credits made it even more awesome....my wife went with me and didn't understand why we all were cheering at the end. I just needed to get my thoughts out in a place where I wouldn't be made fun of :)

Cool, I'll probably go see it tonight. Any one else who saw it last night have any thoughts on the film?

I liked the movie a lot. Acting was superb. Effects were better than i had hoped. The imprisonment section lasted a little longer than i wanted but that is minor. Overall I think it is in my top 5 SH movies. 1st Superman and Keaton Batman are(and may always be) my 2 favorites, but this was up there with the best of the Spidey and X-Men movies. A bit surprising really since I'm not that into Iron Man and didnt have big expectations for it.

I saw it last night and was very disappointed. The first 15 min. were the only interesting and exciting part of the film. RDJ was great as Stark and brought something new to the typical angst ridden alter-ego. Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow turned in horrible performances, very wooden and emotionless. Ironically, some of the best scenes and dialogue were of Stark interacting with his robot assistances and when he was out of the Iron Man suit. As with most SH films the climax was anything but and left me longing for a more clear resolution. All in all, I give it a C+ based entirely on RDJ's performance.

Wow, out of the 500 or so reviews I've read, that's the first negative thing I've seen about the film. I saw it on Friday and thought it was pretty good.

I just saw it. In response to Mr. Gonzales, was it The Godfather? No. Was it a good superhero themed summer action movie? Emphatically, yes. I think, given what they had to work with in the script, Ms. Paltrow & Mr. Howard turned in fine performances. And The Dude, as always, was excellent. Robert Downey, Jr. gave did a great job of bringing to life Tony Stark. To be honest, I've never been much of an Iron Man fan, and I particularly hate the current Civil War characterization, but this movie made me really like Tony Stark. The climax was a little wanting, but overall, I thought it was a really fun movie. The last little teaser after the credits was pretty sweet, too. I saw this movie with two women that aren't comic book fans. Both of them liked it, but I did have to explain to them the significance of the post-credits teaser.

An update on Carla and Lance

It’s Wednesday, which would typically mean Carla Hoffman’s The Fifth Color column would have been posted today if last week’s tragedy hadn’t occurred. Carla and her husband Lance suffered severe burns in the Tea Fire in the Santa Barbara, Calif. area last week. I want to say thanks to everyone who has commented [...]

One last poster (we swear!) for The Spirit

There appears to be some sort of competition between Warner Bros. and Lionsgate to see which studio can churn out the most posters for one movie. Warner Bros. is winning with Watchmen, but it’s not for lack of trying on Lionsgate’s part. Anyway, Cinematical has the roughly 173rd, and supposedly final, poster for Frank Miller’s adaptation [...]

Watch a Wolverine and the X-Men trailer

Marvel has released what I believe is the third trailer for Wolverine and the X-Men, the animated series set to debut Jan. 23 on Nicktoons. It looks surprisingly good — good enough that those tired of seeing Wolverine everywhere may overlook his front-and-center role in the cartoon. Hey, how else are they to capitalize on that [...]

Yes, he has! No, he hasn’t!

Despite claims to the contrary, writer James Robinson apparently hasn’t quit DC Comics’ Superman books. On Monday Rich Johnston reported that he understood Robinson had left the titles, “and the DCU in general,” after an argument with Executive Editor Dan DiDio. But yesterday editor Matt Idelson told the Superman Homepage fan site that Robinson has not quit. I [...]

They fought the market; the market won

Last week Executive Editor Dan DiDio revealed that DC Comics is canceling Blue Beetle, a move made official on Monday with the release of February solicitations. Not to be outdone, Marvel on Tuesday announced the cancellation of She-Hulk. Again. But at least the publisher did so with humor: “She’s been savage. She’s been sensational. She’s been [...]
