Wow...just Wow
This is an amazing book that appeared on comic shop shelves this week and it's like a DIY comic from a brilliant friend living in the 19th century. The silver inked logo and stamped price on the cover make it feel like Bastian made the comic just for you. And once you go inside, the artwork looks a bit Yellow Kid, a bit Tony Millionaire, and a small dollop of Mignola. Our hero, the cursed pirate girl, is stuck, an orphan in a seaside Jamaican town. She has dreams at night where her father, a shadowy pirate, teaches her the ways of the honorable scoundrel. She needs a boat to sail and a crew to help her find her lost father and a slightly demonic parrot (part of her curse?) follows her...and, secretly, aids her in her quest.
Man, look for this book...it's a breath of fresh ocean air.
