Downtown Comics is proud to announce that our very own Jeff Himes has a new comic out!
The Atomic Yeti, which follows the story of a discredited journalist who arrives in a small Russian town to investigate the mysterious deaths of nine ski hikers, was inspired by the real-life Dyatlov Pass Incident. Cover art for the first issue is penciled by Cooney, with inks by Bill Reinhold and colors by Paul Mounts; interior art is by Jeff Himes (Reformation). The series is written by Cooney.
Mark C. Turner from Examiner.com proclaims, “Atomic Yeti glows with the brilliance of a tale crafted in the classic style of old school issues of Creepy and Eerie. Definitely making this one a ‘must’ on my pull list.”
“I’ve always been intrigued by the surreal Dyatlov Pass Incident, and am thrilled to share my new comic fueled by the conspiracy,” said writer Daniel Cooney. “It’s a combination of Twin Peaks and Classic EC, two of my personal favorites. Jeff Himes’s gritty, stark lines are a perfect fit for the story and I couldn’t be more pleased with the first issue.”
Daniel Cooney is the creator of the self-published graphic novel series Valentineand The Atomic Yeti, as well as the artist and author of Writing and Illustrating the Graphic Novel and The Complete Guide to Figure Drawing for Comics and Graphic Novels, published by Barron’s Educational Series. An instructor at the Academy of Art University, Cooney resides in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
We've got physical copies on the way but, in the meantime, you can get your digital copy here. Enjoy!
