Established in 1993 by two Purdue graduates who hated their jobs, Downtown Comics has grown from a single store operation in downtown Indy to a five store chain with a combined sales floor of over 10,000 sq. feet (wow it's like Mall of America) of the coolest stuff on the face of the planet.

We have grown to one of the largest comic book chains in the Midwest with the help of all of our customers, (please excuse the sappiness). Downtown Comics carries most anything related to comics and mainstream media, ranking it in the top 5% grossing comic book stores in the nation.

With extensive mail order service bringing a little bit of Downtown Comics to all points of the globe, our Web site is just a further commitment to our customer locally, or elsewhere on the planet. Voted #1 comic book store in Indianapolis by NUVO, we are dedicated to the highest possible level of customer service. So next time you are in Indy, stop by to say "Hi" at any of the locations or email us with your feedback on anything. We listen. And remember, a donut without a hole is a DANISH!

Essential Wolverine vol. 1 (part 2)

I'll admit that by 1988, when Wolverine #1 hit the stands, I was getting a bit tired of the mainstream superhero stuff. After Dark Knight and Watchmen hit in 1986 and cool stuff like Swamp Thing, Zot!, Beanworld and other very different works were hitting the comic shops, reading a book about one of the merry mutants seemed a step back. Essential Wolverine vol. 1

As many of us know...Wolverine was introduced back in Incredible Hulk #180 and #181 (1974) with Len Wein, Herb Trimpe and John Romita Sr as the creators usually given credit for his birth. Beyond being a living weapon for the Canadian government with claws...little was revealed about him during that first appearance. Most readers thought that the claws were jus… Continue
